A little about Terra…

Terra began falling in love with Japanese rope bondage in Melbourne, Australia circa 2018. She learned shibari from Avalon and Jenna, Von Riga, and other talents in the Australian scene. She has explored the world of shibari as a switch - experiencing being tied as much as tying others. She has been fortunate to experience being tied by and attend workshops from some of Japan’s most prominent rope artists and Senseis. In 2021 she moved back to Colorado and has continued her journey of learning and practicing.

Terra’s passion for rope is passion for the experience and the connection it enables. Dropping into a flow state with another person, whether being tied or tying, and exploring new realms of sensation, engineering, and expression is what she lives for. From soft, cozy, and soothing floor ties to intense and dramatic suspensions - there are always new corners of experience to find. Shibari also provides a container for touch, intimacy, and play that doesn’t have to be sexual - and can be enjoyed between two people that don’t have to have a deeper relationship outside of rope. In a modern world with a loneliness epidemic, these modes of human connection have never been more precious.

Terra loves teaching others this beautiful artform and building community around it. Her style of teaching attempts to break concepts down into simple elements that can be combined and implemented in a multitude of ways, allowing her students to find their own unique flavor and style as they tie. Her own tying style gravitates towards the softer realms of sensuality and connection, but she also knows how to bring some well placed fire and intensity into the mix.
